Trade for prosperity

Politics, policy and your local pharmacy

“Following the general election, it’s important that all MPs in the new parliament understand the value of community pharmacy and give their backing to this vital sector”

Following the general election, it’s important that all MPs in the new parliament understand the value of community pharmacy and give their backing to this vital sector. We will need their support to make progress on the many issues currently holding us back from delivering even better patient care.

We need our elected representatives across the UK to:

  1. Commit to long-term sustainable funding, so pharmacies can deliver more of the NHS care patients need.

  1. Support and enhance the community pharmacy workforce to ensure that pharmacists and their teams can continue to meet the needs of patients now and in the future.

  1. Take action to tackle medicines shortages, so that patients can access the medicines they need, when and where they need them.

  1. Empower community pharmacists to do more, with an ambitious roadmap for independent prescribing.

  1. Make pharmacies centres for public health, prevention and reducing health

inequalities.

If you want to explain to your local MP why your local pharmacies are important to you, please email press@npa.co.uk and we will be in touch.
